Is there really an Inn at Rodanthe, like the one described in the novel?

No, there isn't. There are a number of bed and breakfasts in other towns in the Outer Banks that are similar, but I moved it to Rodanthe for the story. Why? I loved the name Rodanthe. It looks wonderful on the page, and the name itself conjures up a mixture of mystery and sensuality. I've always wanted to set a story there.
